10. Strengthening our Schools

The commitment is to enhance anti-bullying programs by working with principals, parents, teachers, school districts and students, etc.

A second commitment in this area is to intensify career planning tools and advisory services throughout the K-12 education system.

11. Childcare and Early Learning Plan

The commitment with respect to childcare is to ensure equity for under-serviced groups and to work with employers to develop workplace childcare options for employees and their children.

12. Accessible and Affordable Post-Secondary Education

The commitment is to work with communities, agencies and non-profit groups focused on adult literacy to enhance current efforts and explore ways to provide greater support.

13. Investing in our Schools

The commitment is to establish the goal of every school in the province becoming a designated community use school.

14. Adult Learning

The commitment is to prepare a response to the release of the results of the Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) in 2013. An initiative of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the PIAAC will measure cognitive and workplace skills needed for successful participation in the 21st century society and economy amongst adults aged 16 to 65. Unlike previous international assessments, GNB will have access to all the New Brunswick PIAAC data, which has the potential of creating significant research opportunities. In addition to a GNB response, New Brunswick will participate in three Canada thematic task teams who will release reports from 2013-15.

15. Partnerships in Labour Force Development

The commitment is to work with middle schools, high schools, community colleges, universities and industry to institute pre-college programming that gives students the option to get prepared for a career in the trades and other skilled occupations.
