NB Conference brings together teams working within and with government to address social challenges

FREDERICTON, NB – Author and international expert in social innovation and systems change Zaid Hassan is set to speak at the GovMaker Conference November 23-24th.

Citizen-led teams from New Brunswick are participating in a new approach to solving complex social problems. These teams meet with Zaid Hassan as part of an initiative to solve some of New Brunswick’s seemingly most intractable problems.

The Pond-Deshpande Centre and the NB Social Policy Research Network have partnered with the MaRS Solutions Lab, GovLab Academy, The Province of New Brunswick and the McConnell Foundation to create a provincial Social Innovation Lab to address New Brunswick’s toughest challenges.

You can learn more about these teams of innovators, the challenges they are taking on, and the process they are participating in at the GovMaker Conference November 23-24 at the Delta Fredericton.

This year’s line up of accomplished speakers include, Nora Young, host and creator of CBC’s Spark, Henry Mintzberg, Cleghorn Professor of Management Studies at the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University and Hassan, author of The Social Labs Revolution. The conference also offers a variety of panel discussions including: Data as a Currency, Millennial Citizenship and Data and Self-Determination.

About the GovMaker Conference

The GovMaker Conference is an annual event organized by The New Brunswick Social Policy Research Network (NBSPRN). This year, in partnership with the Government of New Brunswick, it will take place on November 23rd and 24th 2015 at the Delta Hotel in Fredericton New Brunswick and will explore innovative models of 21st century citizenship and governance in New Brunswick.
