NSERC Training Sessions: Research Portal, Canadian Common CV, Grant Writing Tips

Starting in 2013, NSERC began moving all programs to their new Research Portal and using the Canadian Common CV (CCV). For the past two competitions, the Discovery Grant program has been administered using the Research Portal and CCV. The NSERC online system (Form 100 & Form 101) is no longer used for the Discovery Grant application.

The Office of Research Services at the University of New Brunswick (ORS) is holding information sessions to introduce the Research Portal and the NSERC CCV. This is especially critical as NSERC made the submission of a Notification of Intent to Apply mandatory as of 2012—applicants will not be allowed to submit their full Discovery Grant application if they did not submit an NOI. In addition, applicants are required to submit a full NSERC CCV with their NOI, which is due on August 1, 2015.

This session will also include tips for writing effective NSERC Discovery Grant applications, including suggestions for completing the various sections of the application, for budgeting, and for time management.

Attendees are asked to create accounts ahead of time:

– NSERC Research Portal (https://portal-portail.nserc-crsng.gc.ca/s/login.aspx): click the “Create account” link.

– Common CV (https://ccv-cvc.ca/indexresearcher-eng.frm): click the “Login” button at the top right of the page. On the resulting page, click the “Register” button at the bottom.
