Martin Leblanc Rioux, a Master’s of law student in the Faculty of Law at the Université de Moncton, is a recipient of the student grant. His thesis explores how the language regime of a state affects the degree of protection of linguistic minorities. He will be looking at whether the intervention of the State in matters of language is a real lifeline for minorities, or a simple non-determinant, and even a decoy in some cases.
