Almost two months have passed since our first annual NB Policy Research Forum! Thank you to everyone who organized, attended and presented at the Forum – it was a great success. We were so pleased by the turnout, the level of engagement and by the quality of the presentations that were shared.
The day began with a Keynote from Dr. Dragana Martinovic, Professor and Research Leadership Chair at the University of Windsor titled “Mobilizing knowledge and increasing research capacity: Working from the ground up!”. In her presentation, Dr. Martinovic described recent initiatives intended to reduce the evidence-practice and the evidence-policy gaps.
The day continued with three lightning talk sessions featuring past, present and future provincial policy-related work and also included a panel featuring University executives from l’Université de Moncton, the University of New Brunswick, St. Thomas University and Mount Allison University moderated by David Phipps, Executive Director, Research and Innovation Services at York University and leader of ResearchImpact which explored possibilities for growing partnerships between university researchers, policy makers and the broader policy community to mobilize research knowledge and to maximize the economic and social impacts of research.
With over 90 registrants and over 25 presenters, we are thankful to have had so much support to celebrate the Network’s 5 year anniversary and promote the wonderful work of our members. We received very important feedback from our evaluations (see the Infographic for a snapshot of what we heard) and are already looking forward to next year’s event (Save the Date: Monday April 25th, 2016).
We will keep you updated on how to participate through our website and social media channels. In the meantime, for those who are interested in finding more of what was said during the day, we invite you to visit the Forum website at : http://nbsprn.wix.com/policyresearchforum where you will find summaries and links to individual presentations.
