Roots/Routes To Women’s Leadership and Empowerment

dda89967-6677-4829-9346-52ce258daa72Over the past three years WEN has been involved in the Roots/Routes To Women’s Leadership and Empowerment project, funded by Status of Women Canada. In collaboration with two other women’s organizations, Toronto’s Working for Change and Winnipeg’s West Central Women’s Resource Centre, they have developed and are distributing the Roots/Routes to Women’s Leadership Promising Practices Manual, free for any organization in Canada to use.

These Promising Practices – Anti-oppression, Asset-mapping and goal setting, Storytelling for change, Community engagement for social change, and Mentoring or Advanced training – help improve women’s self-esteem, resiliency, and community connection, and  have supported women along a path to improving their education, entering/moving up in the workforce, enhancing their relationships and family lives, and developing their own talents, skills, and interests.
