Sector: MindTheHeart – Best Practices for Prevention, Early Identification and Treatment of Mood and Anxiety Disorders in Men with Heart Disease

GENERAL INFORMATION

Funded through a partnership between the Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) and the Movember Foundation Canada and a supporting grant from the New Brunswick Health Research Foundation (NBHRF), MindTheHeart is a team involving men, clinicians, academics and policymakers to develop, implement, and evaluate a stepped-care model to improve the mental health of men living with cardiac disease across New Brunswick, Ontario and Quebec.

This will be achieved through innovation in prevention, early identification and individualized treatment that is men-sensitive and evidence-based. We will demonstrate the effectiveness, feasibility and scalability of the stepped-care model in workplaces, hospitals, primary care clinics and community health centres across New Brunswick, Ontario and Quebec.

The work conducted by MindTheHeart over the next three years will serve as a model for men’s mental health in a context of comorbid chronic disease across the country.
