The New Brunswick Liberal Association has posted a tribute to former Fredericton Liberal MP Andy Scott on Youtube.

A video called A Legacy and a Challenge is now available at youtube/k513RJklyqU.

The video features interviews with those who knew Scott and worked with him closely during his long career in politics – from his role as a fieldworker for the Liberal Party to his terms as MP for Fredericton.

Among the many giving testament to Scott’s work include former prime minister Paul Martin, former premier Frank McKenna and former MLA Aldéa Landry.

Central to the video’s theme is the example set by Andy Scott to reach out, truly engage people who want to participate in the political process and to make progress on difficult public policy issues, said a Liberal Party news release.

“Through his passion and hard work, Andy Scott set the bar for the Liberal Party and we will strive to meet it, using consultation, engagement at the grass-roots level and evidence-based public policy,” said Liberal Party Leader Brian Gallant.

The video was directed, produced and edited by volunteers Alex LeBlanc, Jesse Anthony and Andy’s son, Nathan Scott.

The video was first presented at the Liberal Party’s biennial convention in November.

Along with the tribute video, the Liberal Party will create the Andy Scott Volunteer Appreciation Award for Public Policy Engagement, which will recognize the significant contribution of volunteers in engaging and fostering debate, discussion and the development of progressive public policy in the Liberal Party and province as a whole.

Information on the award is available at nbliberal.ca/volunteer-awards-2/
