New Brunswick Social Policy Research Network Student Grant
NBSPRN acknowledges the vast research capacity of New Brunswick’s students, graduate or undergraduate. This research capacity needs to be further recognized by community organizations, government, and academia.
In an effort to acknowledge the research potential of students in New Brunswick and to advance evidence-based policy in the province, NBSPRN has developed a student grant program focused on recognizing, promoting and developing the work of graduate and undergraduate students.
NBSPRN’s student grant program is design to help students with their financial need whilst continuing their education at a university level.
What’s Available?
NBSPRN Student Grant consists of a $1,000 grant or two $500 grants, depending on the quality of applications, to each of the following NBSPRN partner universities:
- Mount Allison University
- Saint Thomas University
- Université de Moncton
- University of New Brunswick
The awarded students of each university will be featured in NBSPRN’s newsletter, with a description of their research project and research interests.
The awarded students could also be asked to participate in a seminar featuring all the NBSPRN student grant recipients.
Please note that the recipients of the NBSPRN Student Grant will be selected by the student union of each aforementioned university.
Eligibility Criteria
To be awarded a NBSPRN Student Grant you must observe the following criteria:
- Student at one of the aforementioned universities, full time or part time;
- Member of the NBSPRN (to become a member go to http://www.policyresearchnetwork.ca/);
- Pursuing a research project or thesis relevant to the development of social and/or economic policy in New Brunswick.
How to Apply
To apply for the NBSPRN Student Grant you must put forward the following documents before December 15th:
- Online form;
- Current curriculum vitae;
- Letter of intent, motivating your request explaining how your research project is connected to the development of policy in New Brunswick. ;
- Latest transcript.
Selection Criteria
- Academic excellence
- Academic record
- Scholarships and awards held
- Duration of previous studies
- Research ability or potential
- Quality of contributions to research and development
- Relevance of work experience and academic training to field of proposed research
- Significance, feasibility, and merit of proposed research, and justification for location of tenure
- Originality
- Enthusiasm for research
- Determination and ability to complete projects within an appropriate period of time
