Our Bboard

In my first month as Research Coordinator here at NBSPRN, I have had the opportunity to attend a number of events and I was able to meet with some of our members to speak about their research interests and needs. Although I will be working on a number of great projects in the coming months (more on those later!), my real hope is to continue this dialogue in order to offer the tools and resources that help our members continue in their quest to strengthen their organizational capacity and contribute to the research and policy development discussion in the province.

In the last month, one common theme presented in most of the discussions and events was “evaluation”.  When it comes to delivering programs and services, drafting policies or designing effective processes within your organization, program evaluation is sometimes the last thing on our radar. With this in mind, it seems many groups (including our members) are working to develop program evaluation and measurement tools tailored to their organization’s needs.

Because in this case one-size does not fit all, I think it would be useful to share some of the tools we have encountered in our journey.  To do this, NBSPRN has started its own Bboard, an online bulletin board, dedicated to all things research and development. This way, we can all share information. To start the dialogue I have included a few articles that speak to evaluating impact in charitable and nonprofit organizations and posted them onto our Bboard. I invite you to share other tools or resources you believe would be helpful to our members by posting on our Bboard or by emailing me at sasha.caputo@rrps-nb-sprn.ca. Happy posting!
